Before Matt Hughes started fighting he was an electrician. He did some construction and even some farming. His successful career in UFC was surprisingly not planned.

A friend of Matt’s got him into the sport and he started doing some small shows around town. These small shows continued to get bigger and bigger. Matt’s athleticism has led him to hold the title UFC World Welterweight Champion, twice.

Among other titles, these titles show just how hard Matt is willing to work to win. When he was interviewed about his fighting he stated, “I’m a competitor, I’m 34 years old, and I still love to compete.”

Matt Hughes’ love for the sport is apparent when you watch him fight. Luckily, he is not going anywhere any time soon so we are able to enjoy him for at least another year.

Dana White is currently the president of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), which is an organization for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Dana White was born July 28,1969 in Manchester, Connecticut. White actually grew up in three different areas:Las Vegas, Nevada; Texas; and Levant, Maine; but he spent most of his growing up in Vegas and Levant.

As White got older, he enrolled in college in Boston, Massachusetts. Although, he never completed his schooling, he did have an attitude of entrepreneurship as he started a boxing group for children. Later on, White continued to show his entrepreneurship as he taught aerobics classes in various gyms after creating Dana White Enterprises in 1992. White also began training Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, some fighters in MMA.

Semaphore Entertainment Group is the parent of the UFC Company. When White found out that they were selling the UFC, he found one of his old childhood friends, Lorenzo Fertitta, to help him out. Fertitta and his older brother bought the company, UFC, and White became the president. Talk about proactive entrepreneurial-like nature. White saw an opportunity and contacted the right person to make it happen. White is still currently the president.

Kim Couture Arrested

Kim Couture was arrested in Las Vegas as a result of a domestic dispute according to the Las Vegas Police Department. MMAWeekly was able to confirm the arrest with Barbara Morgan from the Office of Public Information.
“I can confirm that in the evening hours of May 29 we responded to a residence in the South West part of the valley reference a domestic dispute,” said Officer Morgan. “Officers arrived, determined that a battery occurred, and Kim was arrested for Domestic Violence.”

Kim Couture is the ex-wife of UFC fighter Randy Couture. Kim is a former Strikeforce fighter.

Jackson vs Evans

This seriously made my day! Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans will be the main event for UFC 114!
Ever since seeing these guys go at it on The Ultimate Fighter Season 10, I have been wishing that Dana White could get these guys in the octagon together.
Jackson and Evans were supposed to fight after season 10, but Jackson surprise everyone by announcing his retirement to pursue an acting career.
“I really want to knock this guy out,” Jackson (30-7) said. “I’ve never, ever wanted to knock someone as cold as I want to knock Rashad Evans out. He’s disrespected me so much, for so long.”
“I don’t like all the pre-fight talking, so I can’t wait until I finally get my chance to shut him up,” said Evans (14-1-1). “There were a lot of times on the show when I wanted to hit him right there.”

Vera vs Jones

Jon Jones is very excited about his fight with Brandon Vera.
“It’s definitely really exciting to get a guy like Brandon Vera,”
“He’s a tough fighter and he has a really big following. It’s just going to be great for my career in so many different ways. Ultimately, my goal is to make it towards the top and I’ve wanted to get that fight with Brandon Vera. The belt is my dream, so I know beating him is just part of it.”
In Jones last fight, the bout was ruled a disqualification because of illegal elbows Jones was using against Matt Hamill.
“I’m just really excited to fight him. I really have a lot of pride in my stand-up. It’s a lot better than you see in the actual Octagon. You’ve seen about maybe 20 percent of the things that I have in my head and things that I’ve been training.”
Jones is one of the more exciting and explosive fighters in the UFC today. This should be a great fight between two fighters that need a win.

Kimbo Slice UFC Fight

Everyone has been wondering when will Kimbo Slice fight again? Well we have an answer… Kimbo Slice will take on fellow The Ultimate Fighter Matt Mitrione. Kimbo Slice is coming off a win on the season finale of The Ultimate Fighter over Houston Alexander by unanimous decision. Matt Mitrione is coming off a knockout win over Marcus Jones.
The fight will take place at UFC 113 in Montreal. Also fighting at UFC 113 will be Lyoto Machida vs Mauricio Rua.
I am very excited for UFC 113. Should be a great night with some amazing fights. Hopefully Kimbo Slice will be ready to fight, with better endurance and a healthy knee. If this guy is healthy, he could be dangerous. If neither of these guys are healthy enough to push this fight, it will be a long fight with little excitement.

The first ever UFC lightweight champion, Jens Pulver, has probably fought his last MMA fight. Jens Pulver was submitted by Javier Vasquez in the first round Saturday night at WEC 47. Jens Pulver has now lost his last five fights.

Rematch With Wanderlei

Michael Bisping, the Season 3 winner of The Ultimate Fighter, wants a rematch with Wanderlei.
“It was a close fight. Personally I think I won rounds one and two,” he told the media at the UFC 110 post-fight press conference. “The only things I felt I got hit with – I mean Wanderlei did a great job, full credit to him. Congratulations to him on winning the fight. Personally, apart from the guillotine and, you know, I got dropped in the third round, but apart from the guillotine in the second, I don’t think he had any offense come my way. I felt I won those two rounds.
I love when fighters say they would like a rematch, because they felt like they won the fight. It comes down to this. If you leave the fight in the judges hands, you just don’t know whats going to happen. Bisping should have finished the fight. If you don’t finish the fight, then you can’t complain about the judges decision. I think Bisping is great for the sport, and has really helped spread The UFC out of the USA, but the guy just rubs me the wrong way sometimes. Seems like he is always running his mouth, and then when he doesn’t win he blames everyone but himself.

Stephan Bonnar

Stephan Bonnar wants a rematch after his fight with Krzysztof Soszynski was stopped because an accidental head butt opened up a cut on Bonnar.
“I want to finish the fight man. It was only a few minutes left, right? And it was a head butt,” Bonnar told the media. “The worst part is – take a close up on this head – this cut is actually shaped like a ‘K’ for Krzysztof, so now I’ve got to walk around with a scar in the shape of a ’K’ on it, so I’m pissed off. Yeah, I’d love a rematch.”

Krzysztof Soszynski agreed with Bonnar.
“I agree with Stephan. If the UFC wants it and the fans want it, I think we should finish what we started, but it’s up to the UFC,” stated Soszynski.
This was a very frustrating ending to a great fight. You hate to see this happen to a fighter, when the fighter still has a chance. Stephan Bonnar is a fighter that is capable of coming back from any fight. I would like to see these guys go at it again.
