Gina Carano

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Gina CaranoAccording to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, Gina Carano may not be back to fight until summer 2010. Gina Carano is shooting a starring role in “Knockout”. Coker did mention that he would like to sit down with Carano to talk about her future.
“I’d like to sit down with her face-to-face probably in the next 30 days or so, and sit down and see where her head’s at,” he said. “By all means, we would love to have her back, and we would love to have her fight again. I think in her heart she’s still a fighter.”
Coker is taking this a lot better than UFC president Dana White did when Rampage Jackson decided to leave the UFC for a role of B.A. Baracus in a move remake of The-A-Team. Hopefully Carano will finish the movie and return to fighting asap. I think she is great for the sport and has a bright future. For more UFC Fight Info.

BJ Penn TKO Victory Over Diego Sanchez

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Penn vs SanchezDiego Sanchez walk to the Octagon didn’t intimidate Penn. Many believe that this was BJ Penn’s best performance in his career in MMA. BJ Penn said that Manny Pacquiao was his inspiration for his performance.
“I just like watching Pacquiao, how he throws punches in bunches, and he’s fast,” he said after the fight. “You might get away from the first two or three, but the two or three coming behind that are gonna hit you. I kinda figured that out.”
Penn also said that he received requests from Diego Sanchez to train with him, but turned them down expecting Sanchez was wanting to scout his skills.
Penn hit Sanchez with a hard right hand, that dropped Sanchez in round one. Sanchez was able to survive, and kept trying to take Penn to the mat. Penn was very patient, picking apart Sanchez with his punches, and avoiding Sanchez attempts of a take down. When the fight hit the fifth round, Sanchez was in bad condition. He had a cut on his lip, a very swollen face, and blood leaking down from his mouth. Penn hit Sanchez with a high right kick, that opened up another cut on Sanchez’s forehead. The doctor called an end to the fight after taking a look at the cut. More UFC Fight Information.

Dan Henderson

Dan HendersonAfter hearing UFC president Dana White talk about Henderson’s future, there is a good chance that Henderson will not be fighting in the UFC again, and will probably end his career with Strikeforce.
“I’m happy, I’m very happy with it. I couldn’t be happier,” White said about Henderson’s signing with Strikeforce. “I pushed them to do that. I started taking (expletive) off the table and that made him make his decision to go with them.”
When asked if Henderson was an asset to his new employer, White simply said, “To them maybe; he’s not to me.”
I really like Henderson, so I am not happy to hear this. I was hoping that they could work something out and get him back to the UFC. But it sounds like its not going to happen.
